Tinamous
Manuel Antonio National Park is home to several species of Tinamous (Tinamidae), which are ground-dwelling birds that play an important role in the park's ecosystems. Tinamous, such as the Common Tinamou, are elusive and secretive, typically inhabiting the forest floor, where they forage for seeds, fruits, and small invertebrates. Their cryptic plumage provides excellent camouflage, making them difficult to spot despite their active presence. As important herbivores and seed dispersers, Tinamous help maintain the diversity of plant life within the park by spreading seeds as they move through the undergrowth. Their relatively quiet nature and specialized feeding habits add to the park’s rich biodiversity, highlighting the intricate relationships between the birds and the habitats they occupy in Manuel Antonio National Park.
